Tanzania Kwanza Commissions Pilot Biogas Plant in Pwani Region
Our first integrated digestion and purification facility has begun continuous operation in Pwani Region, processing dairy and agricultural waste from surrounding wards into clean biogas.
Tanzania Kwanza Technologies has commissioned its pilot integrated biogas facility in Pwani Region, marking the company's transition from engineering design to continuous production.
The plant receives organic waste from dairy farms, an abattoir, and agro-processors within a 25-kilometre radius, and produces purified biomethane alongside stabilised biofertilizer for return to supplying farms.
"Commissioning day is really a beginning," said founder and CEO Baraka Mwakasege. "The pilot exists to prove the full circular loop: waste in, gas and fertilizer out, value staying in the district, under real Tanzanian operating conditions."
The facility will supply institutional cooking customers first, with cylinder distribution for households planned as production stabilises. Lessons from the pilot will inform the design of larger regional plants already in development.
